IMPROVING THE LIVES OF CHILDREN THROUGH ACCESS TO GOOD NUTRITION

 

Mark Hughes (1956–2000) founded Herbalife Nutrition in 1980, with the goal of changing the nutritional habits of the world, one person at a time.

 

In 1998, birthed from that burning desire to help children, Mark Hughes built the first orphanage in Brazil and named it Casa Herbalife. From that first Casa, Herbalife Nutrition Foundation was born and now serves 130 orphanages, hospitals, schools, and organizations in more than 50 countries through Casa Herbalife’s. Nearly 100,000 children benefit every year.

 

Today, local Herbalife Distributors partner with an existing local charity who is dedicated to improving the lives of children. As the local Herbalife Distributors in the Lubbock/West Texas area, we had a vision to support our own Casa in Lubbock, Tx. Our mission was to find that organization that served children and had a need for what we could offer.

 

We found the perfect match! Our Casa is The Children’s Home of Lubbock!

 

Funds raised for the event, “Night of Hope,” are to help support the work of the Children’s Home in caring for abused and neglected children by exclusively designating the proceeds raised toward providing nutritious and healthy food for the Children’s Home of Lubbock. They depend 100% on the support of foundations, companies and individuals to allow them to continue to provide healthy and nutritious meals. Instead of relying on government funding and the government’s choice of food and nutrition for the children, the Children’s Home of Lubbock provides their own food and nutrition choices. We are dedicated to yearly fundraising for this cause. 

 

Can you imagine? Children in their care suffer from the trauma of repetitive, emotionally overwhelming abuse and neglect, many times amplified by their parent’s drug abuse. This kind of trauma can have a profound impact on physical, mental and social development and overall health. These children face overwhelming obstacles in their young lives. They lack the coping skills to overcome these obstacles which often leaves them angry, frustrated and hopeless as they face an uncertain future. The mission of CHOL is to heal the hurts, give them the coping skills they need, show them the restorative properties of love and reintroduce them to hope for a better future.

 

The last thing we want Children’s Home of Lubbock to worry about is the pressure of providing good, quality nutrition to these wonderful children who have been blessed to be put in their care. Because of people just like you, who give financially, they are getting those nutritious meals that they need every day. They can feel strong and alert and love to learn. They can be healthy and able to concentrate on getting the education that they need.  They can have the opportunity to fully become that young woman or man that God created them to be. It is all because of the generosity of people who give and pray for this ministry of helping children through good nutrition.
